says of her work: "My 'Dance' series was inspired by a fascination
with the 3 key elements of movement, light and colour. The subject
matter provides rich quantities of all three, and allows an interplay
between them.
As the series evolved, movement has become the single most important
element - specifically its expressive and communicative qualities.
The body in motion is expressed as a transformation from one shape
to another, one position in space to another. Physical and emotional
energy is captured in a visible form through the tracing of movement
across the film, over time. Light and colour take supporting roles,
completing the narrative with cognitive ideas of mood and emotion.
My aim is not to produce accurately descriptive, freeze frame photography,
but to create evocative and poetically engaging images. I want to
capture the essence of dance and to transcend the specific physical
subject matter to create an emotionally stimulating visualisation
of motion."
Italian born Yvonne graduated in the summer of 2004 from Central
St Martins with a PG Cert in photography. Since her degree show
she has taken part in several exhibitions in London. Yvonne will
be showing for the first time with twist in February as part of
the 'go figure' exhibition.
