Trudy's
finished paintings are always determined as much by the process of
making as the underlying subject matter. Her most recent paintings
take the landscape as their starting point. Thin layers of translucent
oil colour are built up to create a delicately textured paint surface
that subtly reflects and refracts the light falling upon it. Sometimes
blocks of intense colour interrupt these gentle compositions, like
flashes of new growth in spring or a shaft of sunlight illuminating
a hillside.
Trudy graduated with a BA Fine Art from Wimbledon School of Art in
2002, she was awarded the Merrill Lynch Lansdowne Art Prize.
