| Katherine's
art education finished last year with her completion of a BA (hons)
in 'Theory and Practise in Visual Art' at Chelsea College of Art,
for which she was awarded a first class degree.
Since her graduation from Bath College of Higher Education with
a BA (hons) in Fine Art, Katherine has exhibited her pieces across
the country. Her work has been shown at the Glasgow Art Fair, the
Battersea Art Fair and the Affordable Art Fair both in Bristol.
Katherine explains that, 'my predominant interests lie in a strong
involvement with colour, in the qualities of paint application and
in the spaces and forms created on the surface of a canvas. My work
is about the process of creating a painting; my engagement with
my materials, the beauty of colour, the layering of mark making
and a study into the passage of time, through the history of making
a painting. Chance occurrences that happen while painting, the traces
of lines and marks, the freedom of brushstrokes and the random blurring
of paint - all these elements work alongside the considered placement
of colour and contribute to the creation of my paintings and the
narratives which they thereby create. My aim is to achieve a play
of balance, depth and surface texture to create rich and inviting
paintings'.
