Julia paints to have the most direct contact possible with the
materials and the surface of the image that she is making. Her paintings
contain only the essentials. They are pared down to what is important:
light, colour, marks on the surface. They are uncluttered and they
concentrate and hold the viewer's eye stopping us in our tracks
providing a moment of stillness and quiet contemplation.
Julia graduated with a 1st Class Honours in Fine Art (Painting)
from The University of Gloucester in 2000. Since her graduation
she has exhibited across the country, including more recently the
London Art Fair, Islington and the Affordable Art Fair, London.
Her first solo show took place at the Cardiff Bay Art Trust Gallery,
Cadiff last summer.
