"My
work was initially inspired by the interiors of the terminals at Heathrow
Airport. Momentary events within these huge spaces interested me,
for example, the interruption of a light source by moving figures
or the giddying effect of reflective surfaces, plummeting escalators
and metallic walkways.
For the past three years I have been investigating ways of conveying
these sensations in paint. The work is allied to photography and cinema
and quotes from the vocabulary of film; blurring, freezing action,
framing and long exposure." Gill Cutbill
