"My work was initially inspired by the interiors of the terminals at Heathrow Airport. Momentary events within these huge spaces interested me, for example, the interruption of a light source by moving figures or the giddying effect of reflective surfaces, plummeting escalators and metallic walkways.

For the past three years I have been investigating ways of conveying these sensations in paint. The work is allied to photography and cinema and quotes from the vocabulary of film; blurring, freezing action, framing and long exposure." Gill Cutbill

Gill has a degree in History of Art from Bristol University, and studied at Wimbledon and City & Guilds of London Art Schools. She has worked at the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Institute of Contemporary Arts and Sotheby's. She has exhibited in group shows in a number of galleries including 'outlooks' at twist in 2004 and the Affordable Art Fair with twist in 2004. She was the winner of the Peoples' Prize at the Royal Festival Hall's South Bank Show in 1994.
