| Brian
finished his MA in Ceramics and Glass at the Royal College of Art
just two years ago. His work is primarily about the relationship between
perception and memory. By creating forms that call upon varied possible
associations he asks the viewer to reconsider what they may have initially
thought they saw in the work. This allows for a deeper and richer
visual experience with every encounter. His pieces start out in the
form of glass rods, which are placed into a mould and slowly heated
so that the molten glass fills the void. The piece is left to slowly
cool a process which itself can take up to 30 days. Brian will then
work laboriously on the piece of glass using different grades of diamond
pads until the glass is ground and polished to the desired finish.
